The Inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama has been played up as the mast historicinauguration of the century, drawing people from all over the country and the world.
Here in Rappahannock County, most say they would rjjgher stay home and, as one prominent Democrat declining to be named put it: “I’m going to watch the Inauguration on TV at home in my pajamas and sip champagne.”
Despite the 35 degree weather forecast, somewhere around one to two million persons are expected to cram onto the Mall in front of the Capitol to witness Obama’s historic swearing in.
The Washington Area Metro Authority will be running a rush hour schedule from 4 a.m.. to 9 p.m. Imagine, 17 hours of rush-hour crowds, bridges closed, 10,000 buses - that’s 508 miles of buses - 5,000 port-a-potties < which equates to 1.5 million people or the National Park Service requirement for one toilet for every 300 people).
