Bird watchers can view scrub jays at Kissimmee State Park located in which state? Questions like these were .asked of Wakefield Country Day School students on Jan. 9 as the school participated in the first step of the National Geographic Society s national geography competition.
Grades four through eight competed in the event, with each class represented by its top Iwo^ geography students. The 10 contestants were quizzed on additional geography questions such as: the Savannah River forms part of the border between Georgia and which other state? Eighth grader Henry Johnson was declared the winner with fifth grader Joseph Dowell placing second. Johnson will now take a written exam to determine if he qualifies for the state level competition.
