Louise Bondelid of Woodville spoke strongly in favor of the program and asked the school board to consider increasing its funding. Emily Cook of Sunnyside Farms - which hosts class field trips - also spoke in favor of expanding the program as did Chris Parrish of Viewtown, president of the Rappahannock Farm Bureau.

John Wesley Mills will return as chairman of the school board. Ken Marlor, who has served that role since 2007 declined the nomination citing personal reasons, but will remain on the board.
The only committee reassignments were Mills and Marlor switching places: Mills moving from planning and policy to budget and finance and Marlor the other way around.
Mills was chairman previously from 2001 to 2006.
High ratings
Rappahannock County Public Schools rated high in the Washington Post/Newsweek Magazine 2008 “Challenge Index” well ahead of adjacent county schools.
The index, created by Post writer Jay Mathews, is supposed to be a measure of the percentage of students" enrolled in “challenging” or advanced placement classes.
Rappahannock was number eight on a list of 28 area schools.
