Chappell announced his retirement and then immediately released a statement to RCPS employees regarding his decision.
In the letter, he cited his.having just turned 65 as having “got my attention " He also claimed his oldest son said he was getting, “old and crotchety."
“Most important." said Chappell in the letter, “is that my family has strongly encouraged me to ret ire. . . so that 1 can spend quality time with our., grandchildren."
In an interview with the Rappahannock News on Wednesday. Chappell said there were no other factors in his decision
