I hey are inextricably linked - the story then and the story today. What one would expect is that Mr. Claffy share his good fortune with the family who lost so much that fateful December night.
We were hopeful that’s what he would do, what he would say. Instead, Mr. Claffy refused to talk. Indeed, his public comments suggested that his thoughts were first and foremost of himself and his family and not the family of Troy Foster.
Not once in those letters and comments made by upset readers was there mention of the Foster’s loss. Not once was there any mention of concern for the Foster family, his fiancee and how they might feel under the circumstances. ( See today’s letter on this page from the fiancee of Troy Foster and mother of his son.)
Indeed, in speaking to members of the Foster family - including Troy’s fiancee at the time - this whole episode has stirred up very painful memories.
