Academy during a summer program on the possible path to becoming a midshipman, and Taylor Light will be celebrating her passion for music on a band trip to Europe.
Other scholarships, including the Lord Fairfax Community College scholarships, Next Step Dream Awards, RPM scholarships and Elizabeth Biggs Memorial scholarships will go a long way to help students pay for their first year of community college.
A.J. Collins and Caroline Massie are two students who helped make the class of 2009 the most successful ever in terms of admissioh to competitive fouryear institutions.
A.J. is one of 8,200 students in the U.S. to be recognized as a National Merit Scholar. His scholarship from Alabama will cover tuition, room and board, a $2,000 stipend for study abroad or summer research, and a new laptop. Caroline Massie will pursue her dreams for a career in journalism at the University of Virginia, with the support of a James J. Kilpatrick writing prize among others.
