Several members of the Washington Hospitality and Visitors Association raised concerns at the group’s annual meeting Monday about the deteriorating appearance and infrastructure in Washington and the villages and the seeming inability of either the Washington Town Council or the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors to devote resources to making these areas more pedestrian-friendly for tourists and residents alike, according to WHVA president Jay Brown. Brown said he is ‘seeking WHVA members and interested non-members who are willing to serve on a committee that would reach out to the council and board to coordinate responses to specific problems with sidewalks, lighting and streetscapes that impact safety and appearance in the town and villages.”
