“There has been a loss in sales this past year - year and a half” said Nicholas, who has run the store for the past 10 years.
Set a little back from the store is the old farmhouse where Hackley has lived for 62 years. Sitting on her small porch in a red cardigan sweater, Hackley, 84, was enjoying the pleasantly cool day Monday as traffic sped by on the highway 50 yards away.
She still owns the building but she doesn’t know what’s going to happen with it.
“Something different than a grocery,” she said. “We’ll see what needs to be done and what interest there is.”
