As they begin preparing next year’s budget, Rappahannock County’s School Board and School Superintendent Robert Chappell are preparing to deal primarily with one certainty.
That would be uncertainty.
“I expect we will be able to see the governor’s proposed budget later this month,” Chappell told the board Tuesday night at its regular monthly meeting, the last before the budget process begins in earnest next month.
But even those figutes, both Chappell and School Board Chairman J. Wesley Mills agreed, will likely change after Governor-elect Robert F. McDonnell takes office in January and across-the-board recessionary state budget cuts continue.
Chappell said he is not even sure the district will see in 2010 a hoped-for additional allocation - up to $250,000, he has said - for which the board, county supervisors and County Administrator John W.
