Lee again came up with a solution. He arranged a three game series to be played against faculty, parents and friends. To build anticipation, he allowed time for both teams to prepare for the series which was scheduled around the time of “March Madness.”
In his final stroke of genius, at the end of a practice, Lee walked out on to the court (a cement warehouse floor) and had an announcement for the boys. He explained that they were not just going to play a three game series against a motley group of older men, but they were playing for something greater. He had in his hands a silver bucket. He announced the winner of the series would be the winner of this “Silver Bucket”.
