This column has chronicled the revitalization of the Sperryville rescue squad during the last few years. The officers and board of directors are committed to sustaining the growth that has been made.
Elected on Dec. 9 were: President Harold Beebout, vice-president Donald Gore! secretary Sally Price, treasur. er Bruce Sloane, chief Geraldine Payne, assistant chief Josh Waddell, 1st lieutenant Judy Reidinger, 2nd lieutenant Codv Dodson and members-at-large Ray Boc. Deena Wayland, Dick Reidinger and Eddie Gore.
The group brings both the wisdom of age and the energy and optimism of younger members. We give all of them our unequivocal support as they provide this essential service to our community.
The new SYRS utility vehicle proved to be essential recently. Someone was injured in a remote location that could not be accessed by larger vehicles. The utility vehicle negotiated steep hills, muddy terrain and crossed a nver.
The patient was transported in the back of the Chevy Suburban in an enclosed, safe place. Purchase of this vehicle was a significant expense for SVRS. but proved its necessity in short order.
The squad responded to 34 calls in October and 31 in November. Brian Ross, who ran 20 of those calls, was voted Member of the Month Thanks again to all of the volunteer members who extend themselves to serve our community.
