it is never too early to think about others, and to prepare for the year’s biggest giving season. Christmas is a few weeks away, and the staff at the Social Services Department has begun ito plan ways to make Christmas nicer for people who need assistance during the holiday. Oie department has begun its collection of food and money in an effort to create as many Christmas baskets as possible. The baskets ire filled with food that will help to insure hat no one in Rappahannock goes hungry on Christmas. “Last year we gave out 37 baskets, md we always give money to foster children,” said Social Services Director Sylvia Kreitler.

More than 100 enthusiastic Rappahannock Democrats met at the courthouse in Washington on Saturday, Dec. 4 to elect a new committee and to choose new officers who will serve for the next two years. The overwhelm-, ng choice for chair was Meredith Gorfein, popular county Democrat. Lillian Aylor was ihosen as new vice-chair, Floyd Stilley will ierve as secretary, and Andy Platt is the new treasurer.
