Ann Pankow and Ken Pankow, owners of Horse and Hound in Flint Hill, have beefed up their inventory for Christmas. They have everything a horse and its rider may need In addition an array of toys , Woolrich clothing, jackets, shoes, Beanie Babies, Breyer model horses, watches and jewelry are for sale. Mrs. Pankow originally got the Beanie Babies because, she says, “They were horsy and cute. And all of a sudden, everyone had to have them.”

Rappahannock County, home to many writers, has a new author in its literary fraternity. Retired Air Force Col. James R. Paulson will unveil his two nearly published adventure novels this Sunday, Dec. 12 at the Old Sperryville Bookshop. After a 30-year career in the military, Jim Paulson moved to Rappahannock with his wife Bonny Paulson, who flies the globe as an international airline’ fight attendant. The two live near Flint Hill in a home built on the foundations of an old mill where they raise Scottish deer hounds Jim writes in a cozy, rustic outbuilding equipped with old and new technology - a wood-burning stove and a computer.
