Special to the Rappahannock News

The Rappahannock County High School wrestling team brought home medals in 10 of 14 weight classes - ranging from 103 to 285 pounds - from Park View High School’s 31st Annual McGowan Invitational Duals on Dec. 12 in Sterling, Va.

That’s impressive considering that Rappahannock was the only Virginia High School League (VHSL) Single A team competing against much larger AA and AAA schools.

CJ Sidrow <103). Zach Armor (112), Erick Rodriguez < 119). Julious Lucas (145), and Daniel Clement (152) all received second place medals. Cody Casey (135) and Cameron MacArthur 1140) placed third. Smith Cliffton (160), Matt Fletcher (171) and Jessie Ramirez (285) placed fourth. Zack Armor was recognized as the Most Outstanding 'Wrestler from Rappahannock. The team is 2-4 for the season, both wins coming from the VHSL AA Jefferson District.

For most of this decade there have been individual successes but the team as a whole has not been competitive due to low turnout and open weight classes.
