The following year was the inaugural season for Wakefield basketball There were only a few games against neighboring schools and they were mostly losses. But the boys didn't care, they were thrilled to be able to play and Lee was their leader.
Lee's idea has lasted the test of time. Every year, since those early days, there has been a “Silver Bucket” game at Wakefield between alumni and the varsity team.
In May of this year the boys (now middle-aged men) from the original team requested the Board of Directors of Wakefield Country Day School to change the name of the Silver Bucket Game to honor their old friend who had passed away. The board approved and from this day forward the game is formally named “The Jon Lee Memorial Silver Bucket Game."
