Mills also said the involvement of community groups in the search and interview process at this point could jeopardize the seleriion process itself by “changing the rules” in the middle of an ongoing search.
Mills, who later said the board has received several requests from various members of the community to be more involved, welcomed indirect involvement from any and all - advice, suggested qualifications or even interview questions.
Energy ‘priorities’
School Board members agreed to present a letter at next month’s Board of Supervisors’ meeting “reestablishing the board’s priorities” in making the school district’s energy and lighting systems more efficient.
Those priorities led the School Board last year to propose entering a performance contract with Ameresco - a plan eventually delayed by a public outcry and the supervisors’ vote to seek a less financially risky solution.
The supervisors' latest step in that process, recommended by a joint ad hoc committee of School Board members, supervisors and community representatives, was to allocate up to $15,000 to hire an engineering firm to assess the schools’ environmental and fighting systems.
