GRIEF

Grief is a long-lasting process that does not follow a fixed pattern. As such, each person must grieve in his or her own way. Everyone must heal in his or her own way, and in his or her own time. There is no special time on the calendar at which we can point and say that grief is over. Grief is also work. Thus, it is said that people must "work through” their grief. This is painful. Grief is a hurt, much like a physical wound, from which one must heal. While this healing has an emotional and psychological basis, grief can become physical. In fact, many real physical diseases and conditions can be traced to grief as a cause.
