Following an executive (private* session on Dec. 3, the Board of Supervisors announced plans to construct a “modular-type" animal shelter on the property of Animal Warden Jack Bruce. The announcement was made by Supervisor Hubert Gilkey III, who, with Supervisor Nelson Lane, forms the Animal Shelter/Landfill committee.

The weather was more like California, warmer than December cold, for the Turkey Ridge II road race sponsored by the Castleton Fire Department last Saturday. Fifty-one runners participated, up from 41 last year. Philip Strange, vice president of the Castleton Volunteer Fire Department and event organizer, said he’d hoped for a larger turnout for the race but maintained that he wasn't disappointed “We had a beautiful day and everybody had a good time That’s the main idea,” Strange said
