Berry Residence Damaged
By Fire Tuesday
The home of Miss En.ily Berry near Wood\ille was damaged by fire, which was discovered around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, and an out building near the house was also damaged.
is thought that the fire started from a defective chimney at the east end of the house. The flames seemed to have caught between the mantel and the chimney.
The shingle roof of the outbuilding was destroyed !by fire b.t the log part of the house was saved. The house had. previously been used as servant's quarters and Later as a meat house.
The Sperryville and Culpeper Volunteer Fire companies were called to the scene of the fire.
Miss Berry had been living alone in the house since the death of her brother last August.
