perienced by the Christian when he thinks of God’s gift to mankind at Calvary. It was God’s purpose and Jesus’ desire for Jesus to experience Calvary for the redemption of mankind if it need be. Jesus went to the Cross to carry out what He thought was right—God’s will for Him. Can we follow Jesus here? Are we willing and able to go to a cross for what we believe? Christians profess a number of moral values and spiritual truths. Often times, there is opposition to these when they are being applied. Can we follow Jesus here? Doing what we believe to be the right. Not some preconceived idea or personal whim or acting on prejudice —but the right as God gives us to see the right. Acting upon this principle may mean a cross. Would we do it? It is not meant an actual cross, but man can be crucified by other methods that would make the cross easy. Can we face a cross for the glory of God and the good of mankind?
Had it not been for the Cross, the Resurrection would not have been. The Resjrrection gives us hope for life here and eternal life. The Cross came first.
Who knows, Christians today may be called upon to suffer and even die that others may live. Would we do it? Jesus did. Are we willing to follow in the steps of our Master? Would we thus serve our risen Lord? God help us to do none other.
