observe Easter at the time of the Jewish Passover. It is believed that hte early Jewish Christians may have observed together the Passover and the Resurrection. The gentile Christians would not accept the time of the Passover as the time for Easter. Neither would tney observe the two together asa part of their Christian tradition. So it was, the Eastearn Christians observed Easter at the time of the Passover; .the Western Christians observed Easter at a later date. In 325 A.D. the Council of Nicea settled the issue for us today, following the tradition of Nicea, we observe the Resurrection of our Lord on the first Sunday following the first fjll moon after the Spring equinox. The name for our Christian festival, Easter, is derived from the name of a pagan spring goddess.
