Turkey Shoot Sponsored
By Amissville Fire Dept
A. C. Latham, chairman of the committee in charge of Amissville Volunteer Fire Department “Turkey Shoot,” which will be held Friday, November 7, states that those who participate in the match, bring his own Shot gun regardless of gauge. If he does not have one, he will be provided with the gun by the department. A charge of $1 and around twelve persons will shoot at one bird. The proceeds will go to the construction of the five house. The proceeds from the recent festival must be used for the equipment.
Members of the Amissville V.F.D. expect to build the firehouse themselves but as yet there aren’t enough cinder blocks and other materials on hand, old or new blocks can be used, if in good condition. Forty-five hundred blocks are needed to construct the building, which will be 32 ft by 60 ft. At present 980 blocks are available. They were donated by: A. L. Hall, 780; Tom Tear, 100; and Charles Compton, 100.
