Letter To Editor:
It’s high time that someone in this county was coming to the aid of Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower as candidate for the President of the U.S. It is true that this county has always been a Democratic section but times and conditions can bring about many changes.
All of us are familiar with the corruption that has existed in the present Democratic administration. It is a self evident fact ths^t when one party stays in control too long it leads to corruption. It is the balancing of political powers that has kept for us a special freedom-namely—to vote for the man of our choice. Truman on his “Whistle-Stop-Tour” is not willing to give a man this freedomto vote for a man of his choice. Just because he thinks Stevenson is the right man for the job, he is trying to ram him down the throats of the American people whether they want him or not. Do you think, for one moment, that Truman would campaign for Stevenson if he didn’t have the assurance that the same program that he advocated in the White House would be carried out? There is not one single instance where Stevenson has tried to stop him. Isn’t that proof enough ?
Our nation today owes more money than it* is actually worth. Have you ever stopped to think how the government is planning to pay these debts? There is just one way—that is to go into business. This is socialism. What will this do to the small business man? He won’t have a ghost of a chance when it comes to competing with the government. Socialism does away with all individualism enterF8"
