1. John Triplett thinks the Government has gone in the insurance business and forced him to buy an old age retirement without asking him whether or not he wanted ft.
2. The Government called the insurance “social security for selfemployed” and sent the bill on an “Income Tax” form.
3. The Government called this insurance a “tax” in order to collect it.
4. John Triplett considers that the Government calls this insurance a tax, .but they proved it cannot be a tax because they cannot charge a penalty on the non-payment. They add interest in lieu of a penalty.
V . .e- i 5. Non-payment of a tax is a criminal offense, and you will be able to get the case into court, but a “social security” non-payment can’t be gotten into Court.
6. John Triplett believes that if this could be got before a Court, it it would be declared unconstitutional. He believes that those who set up social security” originally knew that it was unconstitutional and they arranged the legal blocking of a man’s right to choose his own type of insurance.
7. John Triplett believes that Government has no place in business, whether it is in competition with insurance, or the feed and flour business, which is his own.
8. John Triplett wrote his protest to his Congressmen. Senator Harry
Byrd answered by re-affirming his disbelief in all socialistic schemes. Senator A. Willis Robertson stated that he had been on the finance committee at time of social security extended coverage and had voted that a self-employed should have a ’choice as to whether he wished to be included. However—-Senator Robertson said it was the first letter concerning Social Security, either pro or con, that he had received.
9. John Triplett warns that this “social security” coverage is coming up for farmers, preachers,. and professional men during the next Congress. Originally “social security insurance” was for workers ^ where * business did not have retirement insurance. Then it included all workers, regardless of present retirement plans. Next it took in state employees, plus teachers. Next it took in a block of self-employed. The next step is creeping to include farmers, preachers, and doctors.
