Personally, one can be as thoroughly destroyed by a small volcano as by a large one, but our entire country suffers less from the small one- How can a man whose business principles compel him to run his business on a round economic basis, reconcile those principles with a vote for the present Democratic administration, which has enlarged our national debt until Virginia’s pro-rata share is as much as the entire assets of all real estate and tangible property in the state of Virginia ?
Here are the issues as I see them: the threat of national bankruptcy, caused by excessive government spending, high taxes, inflation, the trend to socialism, the Korean war, the communist influence, and the Taft-Hartly Law. The denunciations made by each party's candidate and the petty, spiteful personalities indulged in, seem remote when compared to the real issues.
