On Tuesday, Miss Bland and her General Business students motored to Winchester to visit the Shenandoah Valley National Bank. The class has just finished studying banking and checks. Harold Brown, president of the bank, formerly of Rappahannock, invited Miss Bland and. her General students to tour <the most modern hank iit Northern Virginia. Mr. Brown and the Board of Directors have decided to give five prices to students of this class for writing an essay on “My Visit To The Shenandoah Bank.” These essays are to be judged and given five ranks for five prizes. There are five banks to be given in addition to $5 for the first pri^e, $4 for the second prize and $3 for the 'third. The fourth and fifth prizes will be a hank. There are 24 students in the class writing these essays. The essays will be judged by Rodes Brown, Mrs. George Taylor and Miss Bland. Harold Brown will then choose the best essay to be posted in the Shenandoah Valley National Bank so the public can read how students feel about this modern bank and how it may have influenced their minds by someday becoming an employer of a bank.
The General Business class plans to make four or five different trips this year to various business firms, factories, etc. This gives the students a chance to learn and study about v. jobs of which someday they may become an employee. The class has made one trip and one half of the class are seriously thinking of becoming bankers.
