Minor Accidents
A tractor-trailer skidded on the curve at the Wade H. Massie III property Tuesday afternoon, blocking the highway completely. Traffic was routed through the Massies land until the vehicle could be removed. The trailer was in the ditch up against the bank and the task of dislodging and removing it was very difficult. -
Trooper W. A. Buntin reported a single car accident which occurred on Route 522 two and a half miles south of Flint Hill at 7:30 a.m. on Thurso day, February 6. Don Stephen Cupps of Barton Ohio driving a 1959 Ford Sedan skidded on wet pavement, ran off right side of road and slid over a drain culvert. There were no injuries and damage to the vehicle which was owned by F. D. Carter of Pittsburgh, Pa. amounted to $400. At 1:45 a.m. February 9 a single vehicle accident occurred on the Fodderstack Road five miles north of Washingtoa According to Trooper Paul Dicks, Charles Alexander Jackson of Martinsburg, W. Va. was proceeding toward Flint Hill and struck the iron railing on the right side of a bridge totally demolishing the 1952 Chevrolet. He received abrasions of the head and Rosie Virginia Peyton of Flint Hill, a passenger, sustained contustions of the forehead. A small child in the rear of the vehicle was not injured.
