milk production may lead to
losses from ketosis.
One of the big dangers is that an untrained person could n)jstake these symptoms for such diseases as milk fever, grass tetany, rabies, listeriosis or perhaps leptospirosis. Therefore, accurate diagnosis is very important, and this should be done by a veterinarian.
- Although prevention has not been uniformly successful, some success has been reported with a program of providing cows with well-balanced, high energy rations.
In ewes, ketosis occurs a few days to a few weeks prior to lambing and thus has become known as pregnancy disease.
Affected ewes may stand listlessly by themselves or trail the flock. Later they may be unable to stand, and may develop a slight nervous twitching about the head: Exercise and good rations during gestation will do much to prevent pregnancy disease.
In dealing with ketosis of either cows or ewes, it is a good idea to do everything possible to prevent the disease. It may develop in spite of this and when it does calling a veterinarian promptly for diagnosis and treatment will do much to keep losses down and shorten the recovery period.

It is to be hoped that the Johnson administration realizes that it cannot play international politics with the Panama Canal or trade it away or share it with any other nation or combination of countries or international body. The Panama Canal, by historic right, is solely an American canal. If the Panama Canal were to fall Into the hands of some Latin American equivalent of Dictator,Nasser of Egypt, who controls the Suez Canal, America’s security would be gravely threatened.
Indeed in considering the riots ,in Panama it must be borne in mind that the longtime principal aim of the communists in Latin America has been to take the canal away from the United States. If they were successful id this
