All good Americans have cause to pray that President Johnson will fully appreciate the importance of fully defending and maintaining U. S. rights in the Panama Canal Zone and that he win resist to the utmost all efforts to
steal or undermine those rights. If Mr. Johnson should heed the counsel of appeasers in the State Department, one can be sure that the American people would never forget such appeasement in the upcoming presidential election. It isunlikely that anyone could be elected President who bore the stigma of giving away the Panama Canal.
