Look up at your wall calen- dar! What days are marked in color, to give them special attention? Sundays, yes. Each Sunday is marked for special celebration of Christ’s triumph over life and death. But look again! There is another day marked to celebrate the birthdate of Abraham Lincoln, and a day in color to celebrate George Washington’s birthday. HistoVy has preserved these traditional days of celebration, as meaningful. Without them, you and I would not be possessors of our present blessings. Though to you individually, they may only mean holiday from school, or the bank being closed, or some other pleasure or. inconvenience, depending on your point of view. They help us remember, if we consider our blessings, that these days should recall for us our great dependence on the past. We are part of the fabric of the past, and you and I can help determine by our own lives, the fabric of the future. Those whom we recognize nationally, helped found, begin, create, something worth remembering.

It marks the formal beginning of seeing that the framework of cooperation, must be more pro** nounced in education, than the spirit of competition. To give every child a chance, not to make each a prodigy. To make lives, not to make money." Are they any less important to you today? Goode, of Winchester, to discuss with our parents and teachers, how the Virginia Congress of Parents and Teachers can aid us in our . common purposes. Mrs. Goode who is both a parent and a teacher will . . apeak to this theme and discuss it at the PTA meeting Tuesday, February 18th, at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Elementary School.
