Interest To Veterans
We have had a number of inquiries about the recent payment of the 1964 GIinsurance dividends. These policyholders want to know why they failed to get as much as they received in 1963. This is explained by the fact that the 1963 divident included both the regular dividend and a special dividend.The checks which have just come in are the regular 1964 dividend paid in advance. No special dividend was declared for 1964. , On the subject of GI insurance we cannot urge too strong, ly the need for keeping the beneficiary up to date. The Threasher disaster of last year brought to light an appall ing example of what happens to careless veterans. On board the submarine were 13 civilians with GI insurance. Ten were married, but only one widow was the insurance bene-? ficiary. The other nine veterans had named their parents as their beneficiaries. The VA doubts that nine out of ten of these veterans Intended to bypass their widows and children Well-intentioned men continue to overlook important matters of this nature. Have you checked your beneficiary in recent years? Edward M.
