ings are less than $400 to acquire social security credits. It works like this: (1) If a farmer's gross income from agricultural selfemployment is between $600 and $1800, he may cour^ twothirds of his gross farm income for social security purposes.

(2) If gross farm income ex ceeds $1800 and net farm earn ings are less than $1200, he may use either his actual net or $1200. Under the above provision a farmer with annual gross income as low as $600 can declare his net earnings to be $400, or two-thirds of his gross inco/ne, to get social’ security credit for that year.
