Lewis Williamson Jr. f Past chairman of Frederick County 4-H Council, she was enrolled in the Virginia chapter of 4-H All-Stars in 1961.
"Nothing can beat the practical experience I received through learning by doing,” she said.
A veteran of 11 years in 4-H work, Williamson is looking forward to a partnership in farming with his father after graduation from Virginia Polytechnic Institute.
He said he came to the farm with his family as a “city slicker” 13 years ago and feels his new knowledge and experience is worth more than the S8,220 he earned in his 67 4-H projects.
"If it hadn’t been for 4-H work, I would have been lost in most of my farm work,” he said.
Lesser-chief of the East Central District 4-H All-Stars, he attended the 1962 National 4-H Club Congress in Chicago as state winner in the agriculture program.
