Opinions at Hearing

A public road hearing was held at Rappahannock County courthouse in Washington Fri day, January 22. The session was to obtain opinions and comments of the public on the feasibility of closing several short sections of secondary roads in the county. D. S. Butler, Resident Engineer with the State Department of Highways conducted the meet ing. The general opinion of resi dents and landowners, who attended, was that to close any road in the county wa6 contrary ttf the development of Rappahannock County. Also brought out was the necessity of rural roads for fire protection.

The highway department recorded all opinions which wilT be evaluated at a meeting of the department. Results of the hearing and final decision of the Highway Department will be announced at the March meeting of Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors.
