Furniture Plant To
Establish In Culpeper
Plans tor a new furniture plant in Culpeper were announced last week by Keller Manufacturing Company, Inc. of Croydon, Indiana and the Governor'6 Office, Division of Industrial Development and Planning. The company specializes in plastic topped wooden dining furniture. Construction on the plant is schedulec^to start next fall and will cost a total of $3.5 million and provide a manufacturing area of about 200,000 square feet on a 55-acre plot. It is estimated the plant may eventually employ/500 persons. This is tfte first expansion of the company outside of Indiana. Keller first became interested in Virginia as a plant location site after he and his family had vacationed here four years ago. At that time he talked with the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce and later contacted the State Division of Industrial Development and Planning. The state organization put Keller in touch with the Culpeper Industrial Corporation, which played an important part in the final decision. This industry will utilize the hard maple timber in the state.
