Hugh Compton

Hugh Compton of Rixeyville ■died Tuesday, January 19, , 1965 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital following a recent , illness at the age of 79. Son of the late George W, Compton and the late Sarah Virginia Bywaters Compton, and a na. tive of Rappahannock County, he was a member of St. Luke*s Lutheran Church at Culpeper.

Surviving are four sons, Ray mond F. Compton of Newark, Ohio, Lawrence O. Compton of Culpeper, Lewis Compton of Rixeyville and Hugh Bennings Compton of Brice, Ohio; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Ann Reigle of Washington, D. C. and Mrs. William A. Griffin of Rixeyville; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Thornhill of Culpeper and Mrs. Lula Byrns of St. Louis, Mo. Also 31 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

A funeral service was held Friday at 11 a. m. in the Geest Funeral Chapel, with burial in Fairview Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Elmer H. Ganskopp, assisted by the Rev. Robert F. Ellis.

Mrs. Irie Brown

Mrs. Irie L. Brown of Washington, D. C. died in a Washington hospital January 17, 1965. She was a long-time resident of Amissville. Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Johnson, Mrs. Audry Strother, Mrs. Carrie Mitchell, Mrs.Ressie Walker, and Mrs. Nellie Hopkins, all of Washington, D. C.; four sons, Charlie L., Etfgene G., Ira L., and Roy A. Brown; 13 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren; three sisters and one brother. A funeral service was held from Mount Morris Baptist Church, Hume, Va., on Thursday, Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. with interment in the church cemetery. „
