More Boys Served

J. Douglas Butler, Organization and Extension Chairman for the Shenandoah Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, has just announced that more boys are served by more Scouting units in our nine-county area than in past years, in the 1964-year end membership report. Butler said some 2239 Cubs Scouts, and Explorers are being served by the Shenandoah Area Council in 100 units. This is a 76 boy and 11 unit increase over 1963.

Patrons Ask To Keep Mail Boxes Accessible
Rural postal patrons are reminded that the postal manual states that after snow, roads should be cleared at the earliest opportunity to permit travel by rural carriers. Mail carriers are not required to make deliveries on uncleared roads or highways.
Patrons are also reminded of their responsibility to keep approaches to their mail boxes cleared of obstructions, including snow. Carriers are not
required to deliver mail if the approach to the bdx is not cleared. Mail may be withheld until approach is accessible, or the mail box may be temporarily re-located. The carrier is not expected to get out of his vehicle to make a delivery.
Pinkeye affects cattle of all ages and breeds, though whitefaced cattle seem more susceptible than others. It can cause a drop of 25 percent in milk production and rapid loss in weight.
