ii o aiso interesting to note that stores tend to emphasize different departments. One may spend extra time on and push his meat department. Another may have an exceptional produce department. Still another may tend to emphasize dry groceries. This, in turn, may be a good reason for “store-hopping" or looking at departments as well as stores. The usual rules for food shopping are good. If followed, they will help balance that food budget. Yet, an even more basic rule is to choose your store carefully. Ask yourself, "Does it carry the quality and items I want? Are the prices favorable to me? What departments does it emphasize? Which store (or stores) is best for me?" This, too, is budgetwise food buymanship.

8 cups sifted flour 1 1/2 cups nonfat dry milk 1/4 cup baking powder 1 tablespoon salt 1 1/2 cups shortening Stir ^dry ingredients until well mixed. Cut in shortening until well blended. Store in a tightly covered metal or glass container on your pantry shelf. Use within a month.
