Mrs. C. S. Fender of Culpeper was a Sunday dinner guest of her son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Donald Carpenter at New Salem. Miss Peggy Burke of Silver Spring, Md. was home Wednesday of last week to accompany her sister Mrs. Lottie Thornhill and father Brew Burke to Martinsburg, W. Va. to attend the funeral service for Mr. Burke’s uncle Judd Lillard. Mr. Lillard was a former resident of Slate Mills. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dodson of Silver Spring, Md. were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Brew Burke. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Thornhill entertaiiied for Mrs. Thornhill’s brother Ronnie Burk^at a cook-out on Saturday night. Classmates of Ronnie’s attending were Raymond and Daniel Boone, Vi ctor Jones and Clyde Huff of Culpeper, Andy Peyton, Roger Sparks and Billy Ward of Boston.
Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Bennett and sons of Alexandria were Wednesday and Thursday visitors of Mrs. Bennett’s parents Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Burke.
Mrs. George Hahn of Boston and Mrs. Ann Kilby of Culpeper were called to Arlington by the death of their sister Mrs. Elizabeth Hudson. Mrs. Elma Winkler of Richmond spent a recent weekend with her son and daughter-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Tom Winkler and daughter Kathy. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Streets of Arlington were recent Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Weaver. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rimby and son Cary of Almont, Michigan spent the Memorial Day week-end as the guests of Mrs Rimby's brother and sisterin-law Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Johnson and family.
