with a time of 10:31, setting the first record tie for the course. Bill Taylor came in fifth. Reliable John Summers was ill and did not race, missing his only chance to run at home this year. A large crowd of over one hundred students and interested citizens turned out, much to the gratification of our team and the amazement of Warren County’s runners. However, the home team suffered its first loss, giving it a record of 4-1 for the season. Charles Thomas ended the season with five firsts, each one a new record for the course he ran on. To use a Mark Twain expression, he was enough to give the opposition runners the “vapors.” While quoting, we should add that “. . . it’s not whether you win ar lose, but how you play the game.” We were proud to see the
