A phone call at the last minute before press time inquired where we, the County of Rappahannock, could secure the financing for a new courthouse large enough to hold every voting resident of the county who would attend every meeting of the Board of Supervisors. This would be necessary if each Board member hears the views and likes or dislikes which they feel should be heard from their constituents before they vote on an issue of any nature. On second thought, the voice said, five caucus rooms woqld also have to be constructed for each group, one from each election district, would have to caucus before stating a firm opinion. The voice suggested that prior to the meeting the agenda would have to be advertised, costing and additional sum. With all of the construction and advertising, the tax levy would accelerate have to be advertised, costing an additional sum and the meetings would last at least a day and a half, consequently the Board members would have to have a larger salary. With all of the construction and expenses die tax levy would rise to garner operating funds, and so on:
