Thought for the beginning of the Column-“Lunch is an adventure.”

Although Monday started off with the usual Monday morning blahs the day got better. The students happily left school at one o’clock because of heavy rains. Then when we got home the rain stopped. Actually the students planned it that way! The National Honor Society is planning a talent show for November 18th. Trophies will be awarded in two classes, drama and music.

The F.H.A. is sponsoring a Halloween Dance this Friday in the school gym from eight to ten. There will be prizes given for the best costume. Since the dance is a sock hop each student will be expected to check his shoes in the Home Ec. room. Refreshments will be served by members of the Home Ec. department.

Last Wednesday after school our Panthers met with the Warren County Wildcats. Although we suffered a defeat our Panthers ran a fantastic meet,jCharlesJhoBftas, *

gtat i trarli r funnmrjliitoafctiw ■ lead at the very first and held it throughout the meet finishing one minute and thirty seconds in front of the first Wildcat. There were many spectators there which helped to urge our team on. The final score was 31 to 24 in favor of the Wildcats.

Friday the Juniors met to plan activities for the year. Plans were discussed for the Junior-Senior prom in the spring. Also the Juniors talked about the annual candy sale. This is the main money-raising project of the class that helps them prepare the prom. We hear they also talked about the Junior-Senior basketball game in which the Seniors will reign almighty!

Last week Mr. Beverly Locke of the Virginia Vocational Rehabilitation Department, Winchester, visited our school to interview any students who have disabilities of any nature. This department makes scholarships available to disabled students who wish to continue their education.
