Aid Red Cross
AmissviUe Homemakers Club will meet Monday night, November 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Amissville Baptist Church. The club is making stuffed animals to be distributed by the American Red Cross to U. S. Naval Hospital, Bethesda, Md. and to Walter Reed Army Hospital, Washington, D. C. on Christmas Day. Patterns and instructions will be given at this meeting. The November program > is a two-part program entitles “Selecting Toys for Children” and “How Are We Protected” (consumer laws). It will be conducted by Mrs. Nelson Burner and Mrs. Stanley Settle. The Extension Service has much valuable free information of offer on many subjects. Information on the above subjects should be quite beneficial to all at this preChristmas buying season.
Five members of the Amissville Club have read at least five good books within the past year. They are Mrs. Paul Newton, Mrs. S. W. Riley, Mrs. F. L. Bowey, Mrs. Aubrey Curtis and Mrs. F. J. Cresenti. These ladies will be presented a reading certificate on Achievement Night November 11 at Chester Gap fire hall.
