New Licenses For
Gov. Owned Vehicles
Automobiles, trucks, and other vehicles owned by cities, towns, counties and the State of Virginia will display new blue and white license tags beginning October 15.
Commissioner Vem Hill of the Division of Motor Vehicles has announced that the new plates have been developed to conform with standards outlined by the American Association of Motor Vehicles Administrators. The plate is made of aluminum, with entire face painted. Commissioner Hill notes that the background color is “Virginia” blue. The numerals are white. .A white diamond coutline figure appears in the center of the numbers. Within the diamond is either the letter “M” or “S”, indicating that the vehicle is registered to a municipality or to the State.
