The General Election is next week, Tuesday, November 2, 1971 and at this time officials for Rappahannock County, a State Senator and a State Delegate will be chosen. In addition a special election is scheduled to select a Lieutenant Governor for Virginia, to fill the unexpired term of the late Sergeant Reynolds.

In local offices, a Commissioner of the Revenue will be chosen to take the position which has been left vacant by the resignation of Mrs. Roberta Spalding. Candidates for this office include Mrs. Virginia D. Smith, Henry R. Hudson, Mrs. Ruth Grimsley and Vernon Leake. Mrs. Virginia D. Smith of Washington has served as deputy for Mrs. Spalding for the past 15 years. She is a native of Alexandria but came to Rappahannock with her husband Harry Lee Smith when he retired from active duty with the U. S.
