her late father Aubrey Bowie and late mother, Mrs. Robert Stringfellow Bowie. Behind Miss Bowie are 27 years with weeklies. She served an apprenticeship at the Virginia Star in Culpeper for the handsome sum of 35 cents an hour as “printer’s devil”, sorting handset type, sweeping floors or doing whatever chore befell her. She learned to operate the linotype and with her brother Bruce established the Rappahannock News where she was editor from 1949 to ’54 when the paper was sold. Following this she worked on the Culpeper StarExponent, did a stint on a Richmond daily and later went to the Orange Review where she has been a linotype operator since 1958. Prior to becoming addicted to the newspaper industry, and following public schooling in
Baanac ^attended Averett College in Danville and the University of Virginia. After receiving her education, she began “dishing it out” as a| teacher in a one-room school in Greene County for the total of $480 a year. Those were depression^ times.
Along with her dedicated fixation to newspapers, Miss Bowie likes music, instrumental and classical; she is a history buff and is widely read. To unwind, Miss Bowie picks up her needle and busies herself with quilting at which she is an expert. She! collects old or rare quilts as a hobby and has dabbled in theatricals with the Culpeper Players.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Donahey of Amissville announce the birth of a daughter Kellynn Teresa, born October 21, 1971 in Culpeper Memorial Hospital. Grandparents of the infant are Mr. and Mrs John Walsh and Mr. and Mrs Richard Donahey, all of Logail Ohio.
