sigma Aipna uia tratemny. J. R. Latham is a candidate for the Supervisor’s seat in Jackson District and has no opposition. He will fill the position created by the resignation of L. H. Luttrell who had served since 1959. Mr. Latham is a native of Amissville, the 47 years old son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Latham Sr. He was educated in public schools here where he was an able student in Vocational Agriculture. Since that time he has made farming a career. His wife is the former Mary Elizabeth Gilbert and they have three children, all grown. Mr. and Mrs. Latham live at Horner Hill Farm near Ben Venue. Without opposition is George H. Davis jr. of Washington who will be re-elected to the office of Commonwealth’s Attorney and Robert L. Brown of Woodville who is not opposed for the office of Treasurer. Seeking the State Senate Seat for the 26th Senatorial District are incumbent George S. Aldhizer II of Broadway who has served a number of terms as the Democratic candidate; Alfred B. Cramer III of Culpeper who is a doctor and received the Republican bid; and Milford C. Howard a former forester, working independently.
For the House of Delegates serving the 25tb Legislative District is D. French Slaughter of Culpeper who is incumbent and unopposed.
The Special Election will serve to place a Lt. Governor in the stead of the late Sargeant Reynolds. Three contestants are vying for the office. Representing the Democratic party is George J. Kostel. George P. Shafran is the Republican candidate for the office and Henry Howell is the Indeoendent.
