Hunting, fishing
license deadline
Chester F. Phelphs, Executive Director of the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries, has reminded all fishermen and hunters that July 1 marks the date when new licenses are required.
In addition, Phelps specifically pointed out new size restrictions for trout caught in the Augusta, Floyd and Carroll counties. A ten-inch limit has been established in portions of the following waters: St. Mary’s River in Augusta County; in the Little River in Floyd County, on Snake Creek in Carroll County, Big Snake Fork and Little Snake Fork. Trout may be taken through the use of single, barbless hooks only with artificial lures in these waters. Sportsmen should consult the regulations spelled out in the Virginia Fishing Regulations, which will be available when the new license is purchased.
