In an atmosphere offering intensive support and temporary protection from stress, each client at the program has his or her own schedule which has been set up to meet that client's special needs. Treatment varies from craft projects (which teach patience, manual skills and the ability to follow directions) through useful personal skills such as cooking, grooming and wardrobe maintainance, to social interactions with other individuals, family members, and community. Treatment also includes individual, family or group therapy or a combination of these. When an individual is not functioning well because of an emotional disturbance, the Day Treatment Program can help that person: (1) become more responsible for himself, (2) become more self-supporting through employment, and (3) function better as a member of his family and community.
