Some area farmers are showing their support of the American Agricultural Movement farm strike by resigning, from the Virgipia Farm Bureau.
C. L. Ritchie, owner of the Fauquier Grain Company, said Tuesday that “I cancelled my membership” _ in the Farm Bureau because it is not aiding the farmers in their strike effort.
“We don’t feel like they’ve done their job in supporting the farmers,” Ritchie said. Ritchie also said that several other area farmers have cancelled their Farm Bureau memberships.
Farm Bureau president Norman Coyner said that as of Tuesday he knew of no farmers who had resigned from the Bureau. Coyner said the Farm Bureau’s legal advisors told him support of
